It is easy to become careless during the moving process. To prevent your valuable furnitures and belonging from breaking, we offer a few packing tips for your upcoming move.
Proper Packing of Glassware
To avoid damage during transit, do wrap each of the individual pieces with paper (or newspaper for convenience), followed by packing them as tightly as possible in a hard cardboard box. Line the bottom of said box with crumpled paper as well, to minimize movement during transit. If hard cardboard boxes are not available, then you may put them in a large box and line the surroundings with clothing or other soft materials. Remember to note the UP position clearly to minimize risk of damage.
Packing your Washing Machine for Transit
1. Remove all water pipes, and tie them up with plastic bags. Ensure that there are no foreign objects within the washing machine.
2. Tie up any power cables properly, and never place the plug within the washing machine drum as this might potentially damage your washing machine.
3. Cover the control panel of the washing machine with a cardboard padding to protect against knocks.
4. Finally, wrap around with a layer of cling wrap before transporting.
Packing for Microwave Ovens
The most fragile component in a microwave oven is actually the glass plate and the rotor assembly. Do wrap these up with paper and tape to protect it from minor knocks from minor movements. Do not let the power cord swing loosely, and wrap a layer of cling-wrap around to further protect the exterior from knocks. Never rely on cellophane tape to hold the oven door, as this is highly insecure and would normally leave hard-to-remove stains.
Packing for Refrigerators
When moving refrigerators, never place it in ay position other than upright; when tilting, never let it tilt more than 30 degrees, or you might damage the cooling assembly permanently. Remember to clear out your fridge, including detachable components like shelves, and let it settle for at least five hours after unplugging the power cord before transporting.
